MRI’s are mainly used to study nerves, muscles, ligaments, bones, and numerous other tissues in the body, primarily soft tissues. There are so many MRI procedures performed each year making this one of the more common imaging technologies used to view inside the body. It will continue to enhance medical services and better meet community needs.

It is an important new application in new patient care and the fastest growing imaging, spurred in part by rapid advances in technology. The skills can lead to faster and more accurate diagnoses. Also, the more specific treatment of medical conditions the better it can support and enhance the work of other departments in the hospital.

Hospitals may find that having MRI abilities helps interest and keep doctors. Doctors would like to be working with advanced technologies and that they will be able to get faster and more imaging and diagnosis for their patients. When the technology is new it’s better to use than the old equipment because when there its old, spending to repair it is a lot of money and runs slow because it isn’t advanced. Many patients will want to come to your hospital due to the advanced technology that’s in the hospital. It will increase the revenue as patients get further medical treatment, and use additional services provided by the hospital.

Some doctors will make referrals to their community hospitals then they had previously made. People in the community that uses the MRI will tell other people about it to come through or they can have their regular doctor give them referral to the hospital. It will be a competition on whether the MRI Siemen in the hospital is better than the local communities in the area. We will calculate by dividing the fixed costs such as equipment, space, personnel, maintenance, and utilities by the payment per exam minus the variable costs such as supplies, fees, and billing costs per exam.

It should be located inside the hospital since it is a fixed MRI or it can be in a near facility. Since it would be in the hospital it will be very easy to use. The patients would be able to get their exams within a day, emergency room doctors can get studies the same day, and diagnoses can be made or confirmed very quickly. It would also benefit seriously ill, elderly, or emergency room patients to an in-house MRI than to transport them to mobile or distant equipment.

MRI equipment varies in cost, depending on the strength of the scanner. The scanners cost more. The operating cost is between $1 and $3 million. Construction of MRI suites can easily add another $500,000 to the total cost. It will bring more businesses in the community which can be involved in fundraising from the banks.
